JOURNALISM WORKS
DISREGARDED DEBRIS

Disregarded debris is a social experiment made to observe the public’s response to litter and pollution. Through a series of short videos filmed in popular locations around the Sutherland Shire, we set out to capture people’s reactions to our installations made up of various objects including glass bottles, plastic bags, plastic bottles, coffee cups and soft drink cans. These everyday items were chosen as they are found to be the most common objects neglected on a daily basis. Found abandoned on the train tracks, washed up by the ocean, scattered along the highway, this litter was chosen to represent the ongoing pollution that jeopardizes our environment and animal welfare.
